WE WANT YOUR DESIGN WORK

We are always looking to add new designers of furniture, fashion, fiber arts, jewelry, arts, other crafts, and home decor to our roster of emerging and established local and national designers. We want to be a beacon of light for people for shoppers in search of strong design work, as well as place of possibility for designers looking for great exposure, valuable feedback, a supportive community of collaborators and customers, as well as the many other resources we offer our designers.

DESIGNING AT GOLDEN RULE

  • We are open to working with out-of-town designers. Unfortunately, our budget does not allow for the cost of shipping. Out-of-town designers are responsible for shipping inventory to us (with insurance and delivery confirmation, because our mail situation is kinda sketchy), Return shipping will be deducted from payout.
  • Golden Rule, unfortunately, does not have a budget that supports wholesale purchases of design work.
  • We will not showcase design work that emulates the work of our designer neighbors in the 811 Design Building. Please reference the work of Sword+Fern, Heather Treadway, Rachelle Waldie, and Haunt Studio to assess any too-close parallels between their design work and your own.
  • Designers are responsible for being ethical and original in their designs. We understand that great minds think alike, but we take design plagiarism seriously. We reserve the right to decline to showcase your work if we come to learn your designs bear too direct a resemblance to the work of other designers.
  • In contrast to most retail environments, Golden Rule designers do not need to have a full production line to share on our sales floor. Although we do welcome collections, one-of-a-kind pieces and/or remainders of past collections are likewise welcomed.
  • In contrast to most retail environments, we are open to showcasing original design work that we know may not sell.  In other words, even if your work priced well above our standard price-point, if we love it, and if it compliments our aesthetic for the month, we're happy to share it.
  • In certain circumstances when our resources allow, we will sponsor designers towards completion of a piece/pieces designed specifically for our retail environment. Contact us to submit a proposal for a project/piece you'd like to design for Golden Rule.
  • If you are a designer who wants to showcase work but are currently without studio space and/or tools to produce your work, we may have space and/or resources to help you. Contact us to submit a proposal if you think we might have resources you need to advance your work.
  • In addition to the above points, Golden Rule designers are essentially consigners, and there for are subject to all of the same policies and procedures that apply to Golden Rule consigners. Please see our Consignment Policies and Procedures for clarity.

IT'S NOT THAT HARD

We take good care of our designers through our display of and enthusiasm for their designs, both online and in person.
