Our clothes may still be in storage, but our objects and ephemera--including Navid's impressive collection of pre-Columbian, Native American and tribal treasures--are out for you perusal at Antiques Alley (2000 NE 42nd Ave., on 42nd just north of Sandy, in the HUGE basement of that strange place with an imports store, a salon, a post office, and a pub). We've got two large display cases (just ask the people at the counter to point you in their direction) and everything's 20% off for November. If you're looking for Christmas gifts in line with those found in our brick and mortar store last year, this is the place to be (HINT: This antique mall has INSANELY interesting and low-priced clothes, if you're looking for a place that's not as picked over as the more popular vintage stores about town). Kind of strange hours (Sunday 12–5 PM, Mon-Fri 9:30–5:30 PM, Saturday 9:30–5 PM) but definently worth the trip. And, if you're looking for a place to deal your goods, the booth and case rentals are cheap! Add Comment COME EXPLORE OUR DRAWERS 01/14/2011

January is giving November a run for its money as far as being the best month for Golden Rule showcases. We've got SO much amazing new stuff from the MTF collection, as well as from our consigners and our own source work/sorcery work. If you see anything you like above, please stop in to see it for yourself. We're open 12-6 p.m. all days, and later by appointment. We are also happy to process credit-card payments by phone or PayPal and to ship your goodies to you if you're out of town. NEED A NEEDLE? WE'VE GOT YOU COVERED. 01/11/2011
If you've been in Golden Rule this month you're probably wondering the same question most of our customers have been asking us, "Where'd you get all these antique hypodermic needles?" In keeping with the medical aesthetic for the month, we're stocked to the brim with beautiful (and highly collectible) medical/surgical/drug-use apparati from the early 1900s to the 1950s. And that's only the tip of the iceburg. Where'd it come from? My mother collected this stuff. Why? Not really sure. Lots of her lovers were heroin addicts. Maybe it was sentimental? A reminder of who not to love again? A memory of love lost to drugs? Or, maybe her own orientation towards killing the pain with morphine/codine/valium-type anesthetics spilled over into collecting? DETAILS OF JANUARY 01/10/2011
We will be open Christmas eve until 9 p.m. Here's a VERY small (unnaturally colored) selection of some of our remaining stock! All of these treasures are here now, but they won't be here for long. Our transition begins on January 2nd, so get here fast! People are starting to catch on to the part where you kind of want to get into visit us early in the month, possibly even before First Friday, if you want to get the best goods. Three of my favorites went home with someone literally seconds after pricing: So yeah, that's a hint-hint, nudge-nudge to everyone who hasn't paid us a visit in the last four days to get on down and see what we've got. We're stocked full of affordable treasures, many of which will make great gifts for others (or for yourself!) All of our regulars know Navid has the best taste when it comes to antiques, artifacts, and jewelry. Some folks even pop their heads in the door and say, "Any new stuff from Navid?" and then leave if we don't. Well, we've got some new stuff in. This is the the tip of the iceburg of the treasures Navid is in the process of pulling from his case at Shadowhouse. Stay tuned for more! New consigner Carol Van Dyke used to own an import store from the 1970s-1990s. You can only imagine what great inventory she has left over! Over the course of the next few months she'll be bringing in lots of awesomeness. Here's a little to start with: Huge thanks to Jessica Reaves for sending Carol our way. We're so excited to have her peaceful energy and beautiful objects in here! We'll be helping her expand her limited income, and she'll be helping us write tags (her handwriting is ART)! | Our ability to continue this labor of love depends on you!
