GUESS THIS PERSON NO. 13 06/19/2011
If you can guess who this member of our community is, we'll give you $10-off your next purchase of a non-consignment item! If you think you know who this person is, just leave a comment here. If you're correct, we'll send you a confirmation comment! Add Comment Mark your calendars for May 28th and 29th when we're hosting our first annual community appreciation day! Rain or shine from noon to whenever the fun's over we'll be barbecuing yumminess, drinking adult beverages, selling our personal goods at yard sale prices, and informally sharing our appreciation to the past year's volunteers, interns, consignors, artists, and customers. If you fall into any of the above categories (or if you aspire to!) you're welcome to be a vendor or a visitor! This off-site event will run concurrent with our 40%-off non-consignment sale in the space and will feature dirt cheap prices on all furniture from past Golden Rule iterations. By the end of the weekend we hope to have cleared the basement floor to make way for our forthcoming shiny new by-appointment-only fashion showroom, which you can get a sneak peak of if you stop by! For more information see the FaceBook event listing for our First Annual Golden Rule Community Appreciation Days. Wowzers is all we have to say every time consignor Loren Hughes brings us treasures. Seriously, is she REALLY parting with these amazing pieces by super expensive designers for SO cheap? Yes, she is, and we just some more loveliness today! If you like what you see or want to get a better look to know for sure, please visit us in person any day of the week between 12-6 p.m. We ship nationally and internationally and accept all forms of payment by phone (503) 863-1545 or email. Xoxo! Now that she’s (hopefully) my regular neighborhood and park strolling partner, it’s tough for me to describe Maya Rose without any bias. Screw being impartial, though. Even if I hadn’t shared some lovely conversation with Maya in Laurelhurst park recently (after we drove around trying to find the place for about 20 minutes, and after nearly being accosted by some dude in full-on road rage), I would say this: Maya Rose in one of the most talented ladies I have yet to meet anywhere.
She is level-headed yet hilarious, meek at times yet stubbornly independent, and I’ve heard that she is quite the cook. Have you downed any of the edibles at the First Friday openings at Golden Rule? Maya may have had something to do with it. Ever fawned over the timeless, solidly constructed garments under the label Samuels? Those textiles! Yep. That's Maya, too. She also has a mentally unstable (or just spunky?) feline friend, an enviable work-space, a gift for finding strange and imaginative artifacts and trinkets, tons of insight on nutrition, and better childhood tales than Huck Finn. Maya and I happened to schedule our interview during a hectic week for both of us. As per her suggestion, we aimed for the aesthetic of a “spooky night shoot,” but ended up catching some golden shades of dusk thanks to the late-setting sun. Maya prefers not to be in front of the camera, but was gracious enough to help me get a few shots of her in her space. Special shout out to Toast the cat, who raced up and down the hallway during the bulk of our interview! Click “Read More” for an interview with the lovely Maya Rose, featuring Toast the cat and some amazing local design! Today we got a special request for two hard to find fashion pieces: (1) a Navajo sweater with leather tassels on the sleeves, and (2) any vintage Versace sweaters from the Gianni series. We're looking for these pieces in man sizes, ideally medium or large, so if you come across anything like this on your online or real life shopping adventures please let us know ASAP! If you're the lucky person who comes across a Navajo sweater with leather tassels or a vintage Versace Gianni series sweater, we'll hook you up with $20-off towards any non-consignment purchase AND you'll get the standard 60% on the sale of said goods. Moral of the story, we have a highly motivated shopper who wants this stuff by June, so start shopping! Xoxo, W This is only one half of a profile—my side of the story, and nothing more. Jessica and I had great aspirations for her profile, including videochat stills and extensive questioning, but things don’t always work out. That’s OK. Fitting even. Jessica didn’t want a standard art card, so why should she want a standard profile? She’s got so much going on that the answers to her questions might change every few days, anyway...

If you're correct, we'll send you a confirmation comment! While we certainly hope we'll stay in business long enough to feature Gary Wiseman as our August artist, in the mean time we're really excited to have his excellent taste up in the space as a consignor. Today we just got a hot injection of brand-new (seriously, never worn) vintage shoes in real people sizes, tons of great belts (we heard you asking), and covetable clothing: As a result of our consignor demographics (90-percent female), Golden Rule has unintentionally been a bit of a girls club. This is a damned shame, because of our customer demographics (more like 60/40 in slight favor of the ladies). Men's clothes usually don't last more than a day. If you're a guy who's interested in consigning men's clothes PLEASE contact Jillian Barkley! GUESS THIS PERSON NO. 2 04/15/2011
Another awesome response to Marika Emerson's task of putting together 100+ bios for our sorely outdated Who We Are page. Can you guess who this person is? If so, we'll give you $10-off towards your next purchase of a non-consignment item here! Our new consignment coordinator, Jillian Barkley, has been waiting for this month ever since she joined Golden Rule in the fall. Her enthusiasm shows. She's been bringing us new items just about every day since the beginning of April. The latest batch: In addition to consigning her own great clothing, Jillian has taken over as Golden Rule's Consignment Coordinator, which means she's the lovely lady you'll want to talk to if you'd like to sell your goods and services here. So email her already! | Our ability to continue this labor of love depends on you!
Please support Golden Rule by buying and selling with us, spreading the word and contributing to our cause! GOLDEN RULE
